CALEDONIA TWP. — It’s been a year since Amy Golombisky opened the doors to her holistic health business, but her passion for natural health solutions dates back much further.
The story of The Natural Path, 2276 E. M-21 in Caledonia Township, began over a decade ago when Golombisky, feeling abandoned by the medical community, struggled with a tumor in her lower abdomen for 15 years, along with a range of other unrecognized medical conditions.
Turning to natural remedies to restore her health, Golombisky’s personal journey eventually led to the opening of The Natural Path.
“I decided I was going to do this back when I was fighting the tumor,” Golombisky said. “Back when I was really fighting hard, my mom, my kids, and I would have conversations about how with everything I was doing, someday, I was going to be able to help somebody else. That was how it all began. I couldn’t do it all just for myself; everything I was learning, I had to share with somebody else to validate what I was going through and to validate them. I know what it’s like to be told that, ‘This isn’t real’ or ‘It’s in your head.’”
Golombisky is a certified traditional naturopath through Indiana’s Trinity School of Natural Health, where she graduated in 2024, is licensed in the state of Michigan in massage therapy and cosmetology, and is certified through the International Sports Science Association to provide personal training, yoga instruction, nutritional advising and strength and conditioning.
She works alongside her daughter, Piper LePino, 21, who is a certified holistic health educator and is currently a student at the Natural Institute of Therapies and Education in Mount Pleasant. LePino is doing an internship at The Natural Path and will become a certified naturopathic practitioner after graduating next year.
As The Natural Path enters its second year, Golombisky said she is hoping for continued growth in the community.
“My hope is to become a highly-valued resource for natural medicine in Shiawassee County,” Golombisky said. “I would also like to create a brick and mortar that continues with my daughter, so she continues on with what we’re doing so we become a staple in this area for people to depend on and refer to when it comes to navigating natural health.”
The Natural Path offers a range of services, including massages, morning yoga, personal training, near and far infrared therapy, natural manicures and pedicures, full spectrum light therapy, reflexology — an alternative therapy that applies pressure to specific points on the body — and homeopathy.
Many of the services and modalities Golombisky built on her own, such as building a red light therapy bed with more than 1,600 LED lights from an old tanning bed.
Golombisky also hosts a health class on the first Monday of each month to teach people how to do diaphragmatic breathing and meditation. In the future she hopes to add a class focused on gut health.
Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., The Natural Path will host a couples Thai massage workshop, where visitors will receive guided instruction on basic Thai partner stretching techniques from licensed massage therapist Jeanne Andrews.
As she looks to reach others who want begin their holistic wellness journey, Golombisky emphasized her services are grounded not only in her education but also in her personal experiences.
“I’m not Google. I’m not AI,” Golombisky said. “What I know is based on not just what I’ve researched and learned through school but also through my own experiences over the years and how I was helping myself back then … I understand the process and I am looking at the whole human being and not just stabbing into the dark saying, ‘Try this. Try that.’
Golombisky lives in Owosso and also coaches swimming and softball locally at the varsity level.
