Holistic health practice in South Bend launches community program for wellness support

In traditional medicine, many doctors focus on healing a person’s disease.

But one local integrative holistic health practice focuses on healing the entire person and their lifestyle.

The mission behind Physicians HolisticHealth Allianceis healing the whole person.

And a newly launched program is geared toward building a community for steady progress.

“We both went into medicine with the intention of transforming lives,” said Dr. Uthman Cavallo, Physician HolisticHealth Alliance Co-Founder.

Dr. Uthman Cavallo and Dr. Susan Hart-Cavallo are doing just that through their integrative holistic practice and with their new Acts2Thrive community program.

Both say medicine is designed to treat disease, but it’s hard to focus on things that promote optimal health and wellness when your time is spent on treating the disease.

“It is in our effort to help people thrive that we had to come up with a different model for helping people that medicine itself just wasn’t gonna allow us to do,” said Uthman.

Their practice specializes in endometriosis and fertility care.

The Acts2Thrive community teaches you tools that will harness your ability to heal itself, and it’s not just for women but men as well.

“You might have an inherited, a certain set of genes that give you a certain predisposition to this, that or the other problem. But your lifestyle impacts whether or not those genes are expressed,” said Dr. Susan Hart-Cavallo, Physician HolisticHealth Alliance Co-Founder.

Dr. Uthman says they can teach people a lot of health practices, but it’s about implementing them into your life.

“That’s where community really comes in and helps out too, because the more people you have around you doing the things that you should be doing, the more likely you are to do them. There’s a huge social currency when it comes to community,” said Uthman.

There is three ways to join the Acts2Thrive community through different membership options.

“We have the individual membership option, the household membership option, which is for like partner, kids, and there is the village membership option. Starting March 1st, this Saturday, we’re going to cap it at five people. But as of right now, you could get an unlimited number of people together and the greater the number of people, the more savings each person has as they join,” said Amina Cavallo, Physicians HolisticHealth Alliance Practice Manager.

Dr. Cavallo says there’s a tremendous healing component to being involved in a community.

It offers an environment to thrive and work with others towards a common purpose.
