In Conversation with Mira Kapoor: On Launching Dhun Wellness and Why Holistic Health is Her Lifelong Philosophy
Dhun Wellness is positioned to be an in-city wellness sanctuary, with treatments for every aspect of your physical and mental well-being under one roof, administered across 13 treatment rooms, 3 consultation suites and a post-recovery lounge. The name ‘Dhun’ means ‘tune’ or ‘melody’ and the primary philosophy is to become in tune with your body. Think everything from detoxifying and sculpting body treatments, skin nourishing facials, Ayurvedic massages and recovery-led treatments like cryotherapy, a red light bed and infrared sauna, to sound healing and aura cleansing. “I want to be able to create a new space in the wellness industry, which is urban wellness, because I am that consumer. I cannot go away for seven days ever so often, especially because it doesn’t allow for consistency and time has now become a luxury. Enabling an individual who wants to be well, holistically look into longevity, have preventative health care, and look at the body as a whole, right in the city was the aim with Dhun Wellness. It’s providing the best of the East and the West with the convenience of time.”
The key focus: Holistic health
Looking at health from a holistic point of view has been a part of her life since her childhood thanks to her grandfather’s influence — he was a homeopath. “He was listening to symptoms of the whole body, not just if you have a stomach ache, for instance. How are you feeling? What is your mood like? Are you feeling weepy? Are you feeling angry? My endeavour at Dhun over the next five years is to form the bridge between testing, technology and treatment. I see a huge push towards longevity, using metrics and tracking biomarkers. The focus on longevity is to be your best self for as long as you can, not live as long as you can. I see a resurgence in the West towards Ayurveda and Eastern Medicine, to enable this school of science and medicine to work hand in hand with technological intervention. And I think it’s when you combine the two, which is intuitive and technological, when you marry the two is when you’re able to get a true picture of yourself. It’s about treating the body as a whole and not just some of its parts, trying to get to the root cause and using root cause analysis to have a different prism on your health and wellness rather than symptomatic care.”
Don’t have the time to get away for a week? Kapoor has you covered
Dhun’s USP are the 7-Day programmes created to target concerns like Gut Restoration, Sleep, Stress Management, Cleanse & Reset and Women’s Health, without needing to take off to a retreat away from the city. “Long format programmes in the city are unheard of. The idea behind the week-long wellness programmes is to be able to address chronic problems at a deeper level in the comfort of the city, honouring your schedule. I don’t want you to feel like you have to choose between yourself and yourself, your work or your health. We’ve planned the schedule for you with respect to the time that you spend here with us, about two to three hours a day. When you go home, there is a customised list of practises like meditation, habits, diet, and even a calming Spotify playlist that we encourage you to use. Also, our wellness concierge is always in touch with you in case you have questions, or you want to talk to them about how you’re feeling. What this allows is flexibility in your own routine.”
