Rezenity Health will bring holistic care to patients living with chronic health conditions

Donna Kreher frequently sees the mental and emotional fallout from those living with chronic pain and the lack of support available to address it.
“There is a tremendous need at this intersection of physical and mental health,” she said.
That is why she is opening Rezenity Health in Pittsford on Aug. 1.
The practice will provide holistic care for those ages 14 and older who are living with chronic pain and other chronic health conditions, said Kreher, a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
The practice offers a range of approaches for navigating changes in health/physical function, trauma and life stressors.
Kreher spent over a decade working and teaching at the University of Rochester Medical Center and felt there was a need for this type of private practice in the community that could partner with regional healthcare systems to provide the holistic care patients need.
She most recently served as Director of University Mental Health Practice at URMC where she developed a behavioral pain management service to address patients’ needs.
The positive response to that service – from providers to patients – showed her there was a need for multifaceted, holistic approaches. Additionally, treating such conditions early on could help ease the rising medical costs that come with long-term conditions that may worsen over time, she noted.
Life-altering health conditions, such as chronic pain, can also have a significant impact on one’s mood, relationships and sense of identity, Kreher said, adding that while symptoms are real and not in one’s head, they can also wreak havoc in one’s life.
Rezenity’s team of clinicians can equip individuals with tools to live a meaningful life, even when pain and other systems persist, Kreher said, adding the practice focuses on educating patients on the mind-body connection.
“We provide a safe and compassionate space where you will be treated as a whole person, not a body part or disease,” she said.
Services available include assessment and consultation, psychotherapy, psychedelic assistance treatment, functional movement, somatic body work and health coaching.
In addition to offering science-based approaches for chronic health concerns, clinicians at Rezenity are skilled in providing support for depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, women’s health issues and life transitions.
Team-based care is essential for navigating life’s challenges, Kreher said.
“Being a multi-specialty service allows us to offer a range of personalized services to meet the unique needs of each individual, as well as to collaborate with each other to provide the best care possible,” she said.
Rezenity Health also helps fill in crucial gaps for the region’s physicians and surgeons, Kreher noted.
The practice works closely with referring providers and mental health training programs in the region, and some have already referred their patients to Rezenity Health.
“That shows how much this service is needed,” she said.
Kreher noted that it is important that patients follow their doctors’ orders, take any medications prescribed as directed and follow post-surgical care instructions.
Rezenity Health complements and adds to an individual’s care plan, she said, adding that the practice will craft an individualized plan that can change over time.
“We understand that every person has unique needs and preferences, and that traditional psychotherapy isn’t the best fit for everyone,” Kreher said. “Our approach is collaborative and flexible, with a focus on personalized care to address the specific concerns of each individual.”
