‘Here’s my verdict on the no-makeup makeup favourite’

‘Here’s my verdict on the no-makeup makeup favourite’

With TikTok buzzing and beauty editors calling it a glow-up miracle, we had to put this cult-favourite product to the test. Our ecommerce editor, Jessica O’Donnell, spent two weeks trialling the balm in real life. From early starts at the office to sweaty gym sessions and nights out, here’s her honest review.

If you’re someone who prefers a natural, skin-first makeup look, Miracle Balm promises to be your new go-to: A multipurpose tint-meets-moisturiser that claims to do it all. But does it actually deliver that effortless, lit-from-within glow without sliding off your face by 3pm? Jessica tried two shades, tested multiple application methods, and put its staying power through its paces. Spoiler: she has thoughts.

How we tested the Jones Road Miracle Balm

Ecommerce editor (and chief guinea pig) Jessica O’Donnell used Jones Road Miracle Balm every day for a fortnight. She used it for a variety of looks, including no-makeup-makeup office days and a heavier finish for a night out. She stashed it in her bag for a post-workout glow up and for when her skin needed a midday pick-me-up.

She tested two shades: Dusty Rose and Flushed, one a more natural shade and one more akin to a traditional blush. She tested the balm on what it was like to apply, what it felt like on the skin, how well it lasted and how it looked.

Why you can trust Women’s Health reviews

You can rest assured that any review you see on Women’s Health has been thoroughly tested by our team of expert editors and writers. We pride ourselves on our honesty at WH, and you’ll never see us hyping up a product that we didn’t genuinely love. We’re fair, balanced, and we do our research.

What is Jones Road Miracle Balm?

Is it a blush? Is it a highlighter? Is it a body glow? To be completely honest, when my Miracle Balm first arrived I didn’t really know how I was supposed to use it. For clarity, I turned to Chrissy DeVries, COO at Jones Road Beauty.

Chrissy let me know that ‘Miracle Balm is a coverage-free wash of glowing moisture to enhance and perfect skin. Depending on the shade, Miracle Balm provides an all-over tint to the skin, a bronze or blush finish, a highlight, or a colourless glow. It is a great first or last step to your routine’.

How to apply Jones Road Miracle Balm

When you first open it, Miracle Balm looks like an oversized pot of lip balm – and the application isn’t far off either. Chrissy instructed me to ‘break the top surface of the balm with your index finger first, and then warm it up to soften the formula. Apply balm using your fingertips, palms, a brush, or a sponge onto cheeks, lips, or anywhere you want to tint or glow’.

I typically used Miracle Balm as a blush-highlighter hybrid, applying it to my cheeks, the high points of my face, and occasionally my collarbones for a subtle shimmer. The colour is sheer and blends beautifully, giving just a hint of radiance.

You can actually use Miracle Balm all over your face, with Chrissy explaining that while, yes, ‘Miracle Balm can be used all over to enhance your complexion’ you need to be careful and ‘avoid using it on the eyelids’.

Jones Road Miracle Balm review: Is it worth it?

If, like me, you prefer a light-touch approach to makeup and lean into the natural look, Miracle Balm could be your new go-to. It won’t transform your face, but it will enhance your skin with a healthy, low-key glow.

I’m not the only fan at Women’s Health HQ, with our beauty editor emphasising that she ‘honestly can’t get over how good this product is’. While at first glance she was skeptical that it would be a little too greasy or shimmery, she was pleased to discover it ‘glides on effortlessly, adding instant warmth to my skin, but its real magic is in the soft-focus sheen it leaves behind – like your skin, but better. Akin to a filter IRL, if you will. I’m totally hooked on this product.’

Miracle Balm has officially earned a permanent spot in my handbag – and it’s coming with me to every holiday, weekend away and festival this summer. Let the compliments on my flushed, glowing complexion roll in.
